What is an on-site laboratory?

An on-site laboratory allows a medical practice to perform some or all of its medical testing in the office.

Premiere Medical Center has a well-equipped laboratory at its Toluca Lake office, allowing the team to perform a wide range of tests as conveniently as possible.

What tests are available at the on-site laboratory?

At the on-site lab at Premiere Medical Center patients can undergo a broad range of tests, including tests for:

  • COVID-19 (PCR testing)
  • Flu
  • Diabetes
  • High cholesterol
  • Hormone imbalance
  • Vitamin and nutrient deficiencies
  • Infections such as urinary tract infections (UTIs) and strep throat

The practice performs blood draws, collects urine samples, and takes oral or nasal swab samples in the office. The samples are tested immediately using state-of-the-art lab equipment.

Some specialized lab tests require a blood draw on-site before the sample goes to an external facility for processing.

For example, with the Galleri® cancer screening test, which can detect more than 50 types of cancer earlier than other screening tests, your blood sample goes to the GRAIL lab, an external lab that conducts a highly detailed analysis.

When might I need to visit the on-site laboratory?

You might need to visit the on-site laboratory at Premiere Medical Center if you have symptoms of an illness, as the lab results are often a critical part of your diagnosis.

Many people visit the on-site lab as part of their internal medicine care, particularly during annual physicals. Medical providers often request lab testing during annual physicals because it’s an effective way to look for changes and monitor how your current treatment is working.

You also usually need lab testing if you’re undergoing a surgical procedure.

How do I prepare for my visit to the on-site laboratory?

You generally don’t need to prepare for laboratory testing in any particular way, but in some cases, you might need to fast up to eight hours ahead of the test. Premiere Medical Center provides any necessary preparation guidance before your visit to the lab.

Premiere Medical Center is proud to help protect the health of its patients and the community through on-site lab testing. Book your appointment by calling the office or clicking the online link now.
